Now that you have your Citizen or Mercenary & a few items stored safely in your Barn from your Welcome Pack, it’s time for your Mercenaries to embark on their first quest.

As they leave on Scavenger Hunter, the Explorers will:

  • Be able to choose how many quests they would like to tackle in a single transaction.
  • Require Corn as sustenance to see them through the quests.
  • Have a opportunity to carry an item that will help them on their quest.

By completing quests Explorers are able to accumulate:

  • Items
  • Materials
  • Discover new Land.

However, Questing will take a toll on the Explorers Health … after a number of quests, they’ll need to take a break in order to recover their health. The alternative is to take a short cut & use a potion, meat or eggs. You need to keep your Explorers Morale high as they’ll need to be in good spirits to discover Land.

Importantly, all activities will be different for each Explorer, as their stats determine various elements of their Quests.

Explorer Stats

Now that we know that the Explorers stats make for a unique questing experience. Here’s a little more detail about how their stats impact quests.

Speed

Firstly, an Explorers speed determines the amount of time it takes to complete each the quest. It also determines how long it takes to recover an Explorers health when resting, after a quest is complete.

Stamina

Stamina determines the number of consecutive quests an Explorers can start in a single transaction, the higher the stamina the more quests.

Strength

The amount of materials an Explorers can hold is based on their strength, the stronger the Explorers, the more materials the Explorers can carry back to base.

Morale

This expansion see’s the introduction of a new dynamic stat, Morale. When recruited Explorers will have their maximum morale, which is set at as a combination of their Courage & Intelligence.

Whilst on quests, the Explorers Morale will reduce and can only be recovered by drinking Moonshine.

It’s important to keep morale high because the amount of Land that can be found on a Quest is influenced by their morale.

With simple quests like the “Scavenger Hunt”, Explorers will always discover some item or material. However, in more difficult quest it’s possible that an Explorer will return empty handed. Explorers with higher Morale are more likely to see a successful outcome.

Health

Health has been introduced as a second dynamic stat. When a Mercenary is recruited , their maximum health is set at a combination of their Strength and Stamina.

To start a quest, it’s necessary for an Explorer to have sufficient health to complete their quests this is because their health deteriorates during questing. Once the quest has been completed, the Explorers health will start to replenish (how quickly, is based on their Speed).

If the Explorer doesn’t have enough health to complete a quest, they’ll need to rest until their health is sufficiently replenished. Alternatively, the player will need to acquire an item such as a potion, meat or eggs, which will allow them to increase their health.

Experience Points (XP)

XP is a key mechanic in Farmland and is used to measure a player’s progress and skill. Players can earn XP by completing quests and challenges. The amount of XP gained will depend on the difficulty of the quest, with harder quests providing more XP.

This encourages players to take on more difficult challenges in order to earn more XP and improve their characters. Once players have accumulated enough XP, their Mercenaries will level up.

This allows players to improve their stats and abilities, making their Explorer more powerful and capable of taking on tougher challenges.

Levels

With each challenge your Explorer faces and each obstacle it overcomes, it gains valuable experience points (XP) that help it to level up and become a more powerful and skilled explorer.

At the start of your journey, your explorer starts at the bottom & is a low-level explorer. As your explorer gains more and more XP, it can begin to level up, unlocking your explorers true potential.

At higher levels, your explorer becomes capable of tackling quests that were previously beyond it capabilities. These quests are more difficult, but they also offer greater rewards, such as rare resources, and valuable treasures.

While levelling up becomes more difficult as players progress, it is a crucial part of the journey and a reflection of their abilities and accomplishments.

Stat Boosts

With each level you gain, you receive three stat boost points that you can use to improve your character’s key stats: stamina, speed, strength, courage, and intelligence.

Deciding how to distribute your stat boost points is an important part of your strategy as an Explorer. Each stat has its own benefits, and choosing wisely can make your Explorer more effective in questing, mining, and other activities.

However, it’s important to remember that you only have a limited number of stat boost points to work with. There is a maximum of 300 stat boost points for each Explorer, so you need to think carefully about how you distribute them.

As you progress through the game, you will find that it becomes harder and harder to acquire additional stat boost points. This means that you need to be strategic in how you use them, making sure to invest in the stats that will benefit you the most.

Quest Rewards

Now that we know all about the Quests, we’ll focus on why our Mercenaries/Citizens would want to go on a Quest.

As you are probably aware, Farmland has never sold Land, we have always distributed Land to our players primarily as rewards for providing liquidity. With the introduction of Quests, this provides us with another way to distribute Land to our players.

Materials

In addition to Land, the first Quest will enable your Explorers to accumulate Materials.

Once your Explorers have collected enough materials, it will be possible in the future to combine them to craft new items that will be useful in Quests & future expansions.

Important Note, initially at least, all materials will be non-transferable which means that they will need to be crafted into a useful item before they can be sold on a marketplace.
