Over the last few months the team has been hard at work, now the next Farmland expansion is nearly upon us.
Citizens
Firstly, the Farmland Characters are getting an overhaul to reflect the changing nature of the game and going forward they will be referred to as the Citizens.
Up to now, Citizens have been able to work as Farmers, helping to boost corn yields. Citizens will continue to have a privileged role within the Farmland as the expansions continue.
Over time, Citizens will be able to be employed in various professions within Farmland, such as a Blacksmith, Carpenter, Engineer, Armourer, Apothecary etc.
With this next expansion, Citizens are able to be employed as Explorers and embark on quests.
Mercenaries
It’s always been our intention to enable players to engage in Farmland in different ways. We also want to lower the barrier to entry, so we’re introducing the ability for players to recruit low cost Mercenaries.
Whilst the new Mercenaries won’t have Citizen status, they will however be able to participate in quests and other activities such as Explorers, Miners & Bootleggers.
When recruiting Mercenaries, the process will work a little differently to Citizens, players will choose their Mercenaries visual attributes.
They will still receive stats but on average they’ll be lower than Citizens, but players will have the opportunity to increase these stats over time.
Citizens can be employed as Explorers, by doing this they retain their stats & imagery. They will also retain their Citizen status & can always be employed in other professions.

We’re now on the countdown for the launch of Mercenaries which is scheduled for Saturday 14th January UTC 11:00am.
All our loyal Farmers will be able to claim a free Mercenary (+gas).
