Even before the explosion of gas fees during “DeFi” summer, its been clear Ethereum requires scaling solutions. The Ethereum community are working on several strategies for scaling. For more details, this article does a good job of explaining how Ethereum is thinking about scaling.
Arbitrum Layer 2
At Farmland, we’ve been experimenting with Arbitrum, which is a rollup layer 2 solution. Its now in it’s 3rd incarnation on Testnet and they have deployed several examples of popular DeFi products.
They are currently gearing up for their Mainnet launch and we want Farmland to be there when they go live.
Farmland on Layer 2
We’ve now deployed Farmland to Arbitrum and the community can start to do some testing. Although, not everything is working perfectly in the wider Layer 2 environment the Farmland game seems to be running very well.
To get started you’ll need to add a new network to your Metamask wallet. To do that, you can follow these instructions.
Connect to Arbitrum Testnet v3
In Metamask - ‘Settings’ > ‘Networks’ > ‘Add Network’ :
- Custom RPC: https://kovan3.arbitrum.io/rpc
- Chain ID: 79377087078960
- Block Explorer: https://explorer.offchainlabs.com/#
Play Farmland with zero fees
Now you can test it out, we’ve $LAND DROPPED your Land to L2 … everyone with $Land on the main net will be able to claim the equivalent on L2.
It’s easy to check and claim your L2 $LAND just go to Farmland Claim.
Please note … Arbitrum doesn’t current support hardware wallets & you’ll be unable to claim if you’re using a hardware wallet.
If you are unable to claim for any reason, you can use Testnet ETH to buy L2 $Land. You can also buy L2 $Corn on ArBalancer.
